Passage Key "Naked Island" is a sandbar only accessible by boat Tampa, Florida, United States Passage Key is located between Anna Maria Island and Egmont Key in the mouth of Tampa Bay. The island is a busy place on the weekends due to its “natural” beauty and crystal-clear water. It’s a built-up sandbar that’s existed in varying forms since the 50’s. Nowadays, the sandbar has been designated a bird sanctuary.
A popular place for boaters that opt for a clothing optional (why it's called Naked Island) area for socializing. Although you now must keep off the sand island and be in at least ankle deep water at all times. Most folks anchor their boats and socialize in knee to waste deep water.
